Sixth Form students make an impression at staff Away Day
We have a tradition at ELSS of inviting students to speak to staff at the summer Staff Away Day. At this year’s staff event, Wasmaa Nordeen and Jane Kidza, gave presentations on the ‘The History of the Discovery of DNA’ and ‘After the Government Report: Do we live in a Post-Racial England?’ Both presentations were very well received by staff and led to many questions and informed discussion such as what’s the difference between RNA and DNA and is racism the same as prejudice? These students will no doubt have more to say on these matters and more in the years ahead!
Wasmaa and Jane chose subjects because of their academic interests and the university courses they are currently researching. They had already presented to their peers at a Year 12 Assembly. The experience of presenting to staff will have been fantastic preparation for their futures.
