ELSS Chemistry and Art departments are joining forces to participate to the Copper Development Association annual competition for UK school children, encouraging them to explore the properties of copper that make it central to daily life, and a key component of the innovations that will shape our future.
Head of Chemistry at ELSS, Ms Chatzisymeonidou says: “The copper competitions are a great opportunity for all pupils to explore the impact of science on everyday life.”
Pupils are required to design an A3 poster that explores the red metal’s applications – including building services, medicine, energy, transport – and the chemical, physical and mechanical properties behind its use.
The competition is open to all pupils aged 11-16. Students should express their interest by the 2nd of February 2018 to Ms Yanna Chatzisymeonidou.
