ELSS Teacher Academy

We are excited to be launching our school based secondary teacher training programme, the ‘Teacher Academy’, through which successful candidates will commit to a highly competitive, salaried three year package including:

Year 1: Fully funded and salaried PGCE, accredited through the University of Buckingham. The course is designed to enable candidates to develop their teaching skills and improve your subject knowledge while teaching (UQT) at the East London Science School. Termly three-day residentials will be held at our partner university. Candidates will complete the year-long course, fully prepared for their Newly Qualified Teacher year

Year 2: Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) year, accredited through Newham Partnership Working. NQT is the bridge between initial teacher training and a career in teaching. It combines a personalised and regular programme of development, support and professional dialogue with monitoring and an assessment of performance against the relevant standards.

Year 3: Rigorous and academic school based CPD to take our ambitious teachers through to potential subject or pastoral leadership positions.

The subject positions that we currently have available are:

Mathematics,  English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Entry Criteria:

You will be expected to have a degree from a UK University or equivalent in your chosen subject. You also are required to have a GSCE grade C in English and maths.

You must demonstrate the physical and mental fitness to teach and be able to pass the English and Mathematics skills tests.

Deadline: Monday 6th May 2019
