In December our Year 07 girls took part in a day of activities at St Catherine’s Dock, organised by maritime charity The 1851 Trust, designed to “enthuse young girls about STEM subjects and maritime careers at sea and on shore”. Girls spent the day attending workshops and talks given by Naval engineers, maritime scientists and other experts in the field. They participated in a range of experiments to help demonstrate and give them a flavour of various maritime technologies to show them the range of exciting careers available in that sector. This is the third year that we have participated in events and workshops organised by The 1851 Trust, and we would like to thank them for the opportunities they give to our pupils.
