Dear Parents,

I am writing to you to provide my personal response to the Financial Notice to Improve published by the ESFA today, which raised a number of issues related to the governance and management of the school. The notice has been published on the school website – Financial Notice to Improve

I want to make clear, that my sole priority as Founder and Principal of ELSS has always been to deliver the best possible education for all pupils. Everything I do, together with my team, is always with that single focus in mind. In relation to the findings in the report, I have acknowledged that mistakes have been made.

I am working closely with our Governing Body and our leadership team to work through our Action Plan to address in full the findings of the ESFA report to ensure we have a best in class governance framework. We are already well on the way to addressing many of the issues raised and I have full confidence that myself, my team and the Board will achieve everything that has been asked of us.

My priority remains the education of your children. None of the issues raised in this report will have any impact on realising the educational vision of the school. If any parent has questions or concerns please contact the school or the governing body.

Finally, I want to thank all parents, staff and the children for the incredible efforts they have put in during this autumn term, under the most challenging of circumstances. I am proud of the achievements of all the pupils and I want to give a particular congratulations to Year 11, who successfully completed their mock GCSE examinations at the end of term and to all year groups who have worked hard for their end of term tests.

As we end the term and look forward to what is hopefully a restful break, I want to thank all parents for their support in encouraging their children and also with their co-operation in managing our COVID protocols.

This is not the end of term message I would have hoped for, but as we work hard to deliver for your children, I am committed to ensuring we learn from the challenges this year, to build on our strengths, fully address our weaknesses and enter 2021 stronger than ever.

David Perks, Principal
